Lord, as we celebrate the feast of your Holy Family today, we ask for a special blessing upon Peter and Christine's family.  You gave us our families as a tangible experience of the love that you share within the Holy Trinity.  In the primacy of our love for Jesus we receive the ability to love others in a sanctified way and, in turn, to generate the love of Christ, especially through the community of family.  We turn to you to teach us the sanctity of human love, to show us the value of family life, and to help us to live in peace with all men that we may share in your life for ever.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

O dear Jesus, I humbly implore You to grant Your special graces to our family.  May our homes be the shrine of peace, purity, love, labor and faith. Come and fill our homes with your presence, You alone are worthy of our reverence.  Lord we vow to live holy, bowing our knees to You only.  These are our hopes and ideals.  Help us to attain them, O God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Loving lord, as we gather around our family table on this Advent season, we ask your special blessing on our mother Noreen. Her presence brings light and warmth to our lives and we thank you for giving her to us. We know her care for us has been constant. She has enlightened us at some of the most difficult times in our family life. Lord, now bless her with the same consolation that your Mother received during her life.  Amen.

All-powerful and ever-living God, when Abraham left his native land and departed from his people you kept him safe through all his journeys.  Protect John as he prepares to serve overseas.  Be his constant companion and his strength in battle, his refuge in every adversity.  Guide him, O Lord, that he may return home in safety.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Lord, we lift up to you Mary.  May you bless her to be a dedicated and caring nurse.  May her hands be competent and soothing.  May her smile be sincere and understanding.  May her manner be warm and professional.  May her heart be compassionate and giving. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

In her own words: 

"As a child I was attracted to the religious life through my mother's fervent spirit of prayer and faith. However, as I contracted polio as a child, it was believed impossible that I would be able to enter a religious order until one day when I went to confession.

In the course of my confession the priest asked me if I had every considered religious life. I explained my predicament. He was convinced this was not an obstacle and told me of an order in Canada which excepts persons with disabilities and cares for small children. I was delighted, but the journey was not over. Because I had little money, Canada (in those days) would not let me in for fear I'd be a burden to them.

After several years, God showed me another order, the Sisters of the LAMB OF GOD. It has been the special place God has prepared for me.

I am very happy here because we are most concerned about the poor, poor in many different ways. I like the life of simplicity like that of the Holy Family. The Eucharist which is the center of our life brings one much strength and the opportunity to present to God the people of the world who we serve or carry in our hearts."
